The first $10 is the toughest...
Steve, Thanks for the first donation - I wanted to make it myself, but alas paypal will not let me donate to my own cause.
I recieved an email back from Oxfam this morning, the only reason I contacted Oxfam was because they were the first group that came to mind... Here's their reply...
"Dear Simon
Thank you for taking the time to contact us at Oxfam, your innovative support really is appreciated.
I should also explain that whilst wecan take donations for Burma, we have not launched a dedicated appeal. We have actually committed £250,000 from our catastrophe fund. We havea growing programme supporting partners in Myanmar, who we will beproviding with funding assistance and expertise on humanitarianresponse. We also will be working in conjunction with the UN and otheragencies to respond to immediate needs and support people's recovery.
We would be happy and grateful if youcould include a link to our site from your website. The only provisosare that the website does not claim an official or contractualpartnership with Oxfam (unless one exists), that you are careful torepresent Oxfam faithfully in context, and that if used, Oxfam's logois linked directly to one of the following URLs:
For one-off donations to our catastrophe fund, use the link: https://www.oxfam.org.uk/donate/cashdonation.html
So, A response is better than no response... We continue to gain momentum and try make this big old globe a better place to hang out and drink coffee - that's right, get outside your comfort zone and help!... I mean, heck, if some IT person can try and make a difference, surely you lot can as well?..
Sime.
